About Duvets

We sell a great range of duvets from singles, doubles to king and super king sizes. Available in a selection of qualities for all beds and at tog ratings, we will have the right duvet for you.

If you are not sure which duvet will fit your bed, we have put together this handy guide to explain tog ratings which should help you to make the right choice.

Understanding Tog Ratings

Duvet tog ratings range from Tog 1 to Tog 15, with the higher the tog the better its heat retention which means you will be a lot warmer with a high rating. The most common tog is Tog 10.5, which means it can be used all year round. However, for others they could switch their tog depending on factors such as season, bed sizes and the age of the person who uses the bed.

Duvet tog sizes vary, with the following recommended for a different level of warmth -

1-4.5 Tog is great for warmer days (especially summer)

7-10.5 Tog is best for autumn and spring where temperature can fluctuate

12-15 Tog is suitable for colder nights in winter.

Tog ratings can also get slightly dependant on the age of the individual using the bed. For adults, the tog rating will be more of a personal choice whereas for kids, options can be less subjective.

Younger children require low tog ratings and as they tend to be smaller, they can be easily overwhelmed with the size of a thick duvet which overheats them. If you are buying a duvet for your kids, we would recommend aiming for a tog rating lower than 10.5.

For babies and toddlers a tog rating of 4 is sufficient as young children have trouble regulating their own body temperature which can be dangerous. If they sleep in a cot, the bed will naturally retain more heat because its small and requires less to be retained in the duvet.

What Size Duvet Should I Get?

We would recommend choosing a duvet size that matches the size of your bed. For example, if you have a double bed then a double duvet is the smart choice. If you share a bed, you may want a larger duvet so there is plenty to go around which means a king duvet is the best choice.

Maintenance Tips for Your Duvet

If you look after your duvet it will help you get a great night's sleep every night. You should look to wash your duvet every 6-12 months but always check the care label for clarity on washing temperatures and if it can be tumble dried.

Due to their size, some duvets can be easier to wash at your local laundrette as their large capacity washing and drying machines will easily handle them. Avoid the filling clumping together or being ruined by checking the duvet is completely dry before using it again.
